The Season will kick off with Liz Lockhead’s comedy Perfect Days in October, followed by Neil Simon’s Lost in Yonkers in January and Dale Wasserman’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in April.

Join us as we celebrate 150 years of Chekhov with a new production of The Cherry Orchard based on David Lan’s translation. Directed by Antonia Doggett, with Lighting Designed by Ian Irving and a Set Designed by Margot Traynor.

Synopsis

Set in late-19th-centrury Russia, a domestic dispute over an inherited cherry grove sets the scene for Chekhov’s last play, a commentary on class struggle as old and new orders clash. This timeless drama evokes loss, longing, and the relentless passing of time.

We will require more people to assist with decor, props and set – members, please get in touch with Margaret Wyper or Glynis Poole. Also, we need backstage crew who will be used on-stage during the ballroom scene. Again, contact Margaret or Glynis.

The Cherry Orchard

We are currently looking for a Director for our forthcoming production of Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard. Rights are secured to present the David Lan translation, a slightly darker version of the comic-tragedy, first staged by the National Theatre in 2000 and directed by Trevor Nunn.

The production will be staged at Eastwood Park Theatre in Giffnock from Wed 21st – Sat 24th April 2010. Rehearsals are expected to commence the first week in February.

We are a lively community theatre company with our own premises, including both rehearsal studio and workshop space. GTP productions are created entirely in-house by a dedicated team of set builders, wardrobe department and props team. The company boasts a healthy membership of both seasoned amateur and professional actors, regularly employing from a pool of professional directors, which we now look to expand. Details of all applicants will be kept on file and considered for our future productions.
