Buy TicketsA Wee Touch Of Class is a comedy set in early 19th Century Edinburgh and plays with class consciousness, the ‘I kent his faither’ attitude that has nae time for pomposity. Archibald Jenner, ‘Erchie’, yes he of the famous store, now sadly defunct, has made his fortune and established himself in the high- faultin’ New Town. His attempts to acquire culture and climb the social ladder backfire with hilarious results.
It was first performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in 1985 and starred Rikki Fulton as ‘Erchie’ and the author Debbie Coffey as Netty, a scrofulous clog-dancing servant fae Fife. Coffey based it on Moliere’s play Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme.
